Welcome to Drishtee
Set up in October 2009, Drishtee is an independent experimental organization, we use the term "experimental" because we could not see ourself fit in the slot of NGO, foundation, charity or caregroups. The aim of this organization is similar to most of these groups which is to contribute to the economic and social development of the underprivileged people. Drishtee plans to operate like a biological organism which evolves over time through co operation with other agents without any sacred preset rules.

In Bangla langauge "Drishtee" means vision, unlike most organizations that dream to change the world by getting rid of poverty, by ensuring justice and equality for all humanity, we keep our vision very limited and focused. We pick a village in Bangladesh and help the farmers address one of their concerns.
Our first project started immediately after the formation of Drishtee. In ten villages of Barguna, we teamed up with a volunteer group, Prothom Alo Bondhu Shobha to raise the awareness of eye injury among farmers during harvesting and we are providing the farmers with protective goggles.
Drishtee doesnot spend resources to create a network to implement its goal, instead we use the existing local volunteer network , that enables us to use our full capacity on the target problem.

Twenty five volunteers and the Drishtee coordinator of the pilot project Dr. Humayun S Khan were present at the meeting. The quetionnaire forms and the brochures were distributed among the volunteers and the date for distribution of protective eyewears among the farmers in five villages were fixed.
The harvest will begin in the first week of december and the volunteers are hopeful that they would be able to complete their task of distribution at least five days ahead of that.
