History: We are a group who used to have online brainstorming sessions about social and economic problems of Bangladesh, soon we got disenchanted with the rhetoric and realized that actions to address these problems are overdue. On October, 2009 a physician participant mentioned about the risk of eye injury during harvest by farmers and that by wearing a protective eyewear the incidence of injury could be reduced. Drishtee was officially formed that day of October to address this problem. We have formed a global team that includes people from everywalks of life, who are willing to provide their support and services voluntarily.
Our mission: To prevent the eye injury among farmers in Bangladesh by raising awareness of the causes of injury and by providing them with protective eyewears. To train a volunteer group who will help raise the awareness among farmers about the risk of eye injury and will motivate them to wear the protective goggles by mentioning its benefit.
The strategy: To team up with the existing local volunteer groups and get the project in Barguna started within a short period of time.
